Devgen brings an impressive array of multidisciplinary technologies to bear on the continuous development of new traits and hybrids, suited to the farmer’s needs:
- Devgen’s commercial and research germplasm is based on a portfolio of genetic material unique to the Indian seed industry and is especially selected to meet the Indian requirements for yield, taste and quality characteristics.
- Devgen is using innovative breeding and biotechnology expertise to develop superior hybrid seeds that meet the farmers’ requirements. The normal breeding process is enhanced and accelerated with molecular markers and advanced genomic breeding technologies.
- Devgen is developing a proprietary portfolio of traits based on its own technology. The company additionally obtained access to develop and commercialize certain Monsanto technologies(1) for application in hybrid rice and small grains, particularly in Asia. The company’s competitive strength in trait development is endorsed by industrial partners resulting in multiple collaborations, R&D funding and technology-exchange agreements.
Devgen has a committed team of scientific staff and world class advisors.
Research and development efforts in India are carried out at the Agri-Science Park (ASP) in the Patancheru campus of ICRISAT. R&D efforts are coordinated with Devgen’s different R&D sites in Belgium, India, Singapore and Kenya.
