Remi Vermeiren

Remi Vermeiren is the former managing director of KBC Bank (from 1989 to 1998) and chairman of KBC Bank and Insurance Company (from 1998 to 2003 when he retired). He has various board positions in other private and public companies such as Euronext and Crédit Commercial de France.

Thierry Bogaert is a graduate form the Universtiy of Ghent and received an MSc degree form the University of Manitoba, Canada and a PhD from the Medical Research Council, Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, United Kingdom. He held faculty positions at the MRC-LMB in Cambridge and the Medical Faculty of the University of Ghent. He founded Devgen in 1997 and has led the company since. He is actively involved with both the Crop Protection and Human Therapeutics businesses, having been instrumental in setting strategic direction and forging key collaborations in both areas that support the company goals and objectives.

Orlando de Ponti
Non-executive, independent director

Mr. de Ponti gained important experience in the breeding and seed business working for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture and as a Managing Director R&D of Nunhems B.V. Nunhems is a global seed company with important operations in India. He is the President of the International Seed Federation (ISF), and holds various other external functions. Mr. Orlando de Ponti graduated as Agricultural Engineer and as doctor at the Wageningen Agricultural University.

Wouter de Ruiter

• Mr. Wouter de Ruiter is through Madeli Participaties B.V. an important shareholder of Devgen nv. He obtained a degree as breeder at the University of Wageningen. He has built a career at the R&D department of the international seed company De Ruiter Seeds until short after it was purchased by Monsanto in 2008. He brings with him 20 years of experience in the seed industry.

Jan Leemans, PhD

Jan Leemans is the former research director of Plant Genetic Systems in Ghent, Belgium. He has been member of the board of Hoechst Shering AgrEvo GmbH, Germany, of Nunza B.V., Netherlands, of the Flemish Institute of Biotechnology (VIB), Belgium and of CropDesign, Belgium. He currently is also on the board of Misr Hytech, a leading seed company in Egypt. He serves as a trustee of the S M Sehgal Foundation in India.

Gengest BVBA, represented by Mr. Rudi Mariën

Mr Mariën is, through his investment company Biovest ComVa, an important shareholder of Devgen nv. He was the co-founder, reference shareholder and chairman of the biotech company Innogenetics. He brings to Devgen significant experience in the management of both private and public businesses. Rudi Mariën holds a degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Gent, and is specialized in clinical biology.

Patrick Van Beneden is the executive vice-president of GIMV - Life Sciences, responsible for GIMV's investment portfolio in life sciences. Current board mandates include: Crop Design, Pamgene, I&I Gent, Avalon Pharmaceuticals, Psychiatric Genomics, TorreyPines Therapeutics, Xantos Biomedicine, Astex Technology, Biotech Fonds Vlaanderen and VZW FlandersBio.
